It's now one defeat in the last six outings for an upwardly mobile Rovers Under-18s, who confidently swatted aside Middlesbrough Under-18s at the weekend.
All the goals came in an entertaining second half at Brockhall Village, with goals from Luke Brennan, Jalil Saadi and Jared Horlock earning Barr's boys all three points on home turf.
The visitors did pull a goal back with two minutes remaining through Alberto Almanzar, but it was to only be a late consolation for the Teessiders, with Horlock making sure of the victory in stoppage time.
Following a goalless first half, the game sprang to life when Brennan scored his second goal in as many games against Boro as he slotted home after latching onto a Dan Pike pass just before the hour mark.
The score was doubled with 20 minutes remaining after James Connolly and Saadi combined, with the Moroccan finding a way past Harry Flatters to add to Rovers' advantage.
But it wasn't all plain sailing for Rovers, with Almanzar pulling a goal back with a couple of minutes remaining to potentially set up a nervy end to the encounter.
But Horlock, who came off the bench before the goalscoring began, made things safe in stoppage time, sealing the points after a neat pass from the excellent Saadi.
And that was to be that as Rovers kept up their good form ahead of Tuesday afternoon's battle with lowly West Bromwich Albion at the Baggies training ground, kick-off 12pm.
