Lenihan to miss Bantams clash

Defender still sidelined with foot injury

Rovers will once again be without Darragh Lenihan for this weekend's match against Bradford City.

The Irishman continues to build up his recovery from the foot injury sustained on the opening day of the season.

Boss Tony Mowbray has revealed that the defender is working hard in the gym, and hopes to see him back out on the training pitches soon.

"Darragh Lenihan is still the main injury concern for us," said the manager on Thursday.

"He's on a treadmill seeing if he can run pain free. Just building it up, doing some stuff in the pool and in the gym. Just getting him reactivated really.

"So hopefully in not too long we'll see him with his boots on and out on the grass."

Another player stepping up his fitness in a bid to return to action is Scott Wharton.

The young defender has missed a large chunk of pre-season through injury, but whilst this weekend's match comes too soon for him to be considered, the manager has been delighted to see him back training with the rest of the first team squad.

"He's missed a lot of pre-season so he's just back to the point where he's doing training weeks to get back up to speed," he added.

"It will be beneficial for him to work with the first team and to get around the players.

"I've enjoyed watching him the last few days. I was disappointed and frustrated that he didn't get more game time through pre-season because of his injury, but watching him in training has been good.

"So we'll see how he progresses, see whether we think he is actually ready to compete to get in our team. Or whether it is another season for him to develop, we'll wait and see."

Craig Conway is in line for his first appearance of the season after recovering from a hamstring strain, whilst new signing Marcus Antonsson is expected to be in the squad having missed out last weekend.

Tickets remain on sale for Saturday's match at Bradford. Buy in advance to avoid the matchday price rise. Full ticketing information can be found here.
