The Blackburn Rovers Community Trust Family Stand
The Blackburn Rovers Community Trust Family Stand is the most exciting addition to Ewood Park for the 2016/17 season. Taking up a new home in the Jack Walker Stand lower tier – close enough to feel as though you’re part of the action – it’s going to be the liveliest, friendliest and most colourful part of the stadium, offering fun for all the family.
This handy guide is designed to give you a feel for all the handy features that make this area so family-friendly when you come to cheer on Blackburn Rovers…
The GAME Room
Children can’t wait to take their seat in The GAME Room, enjoying console action and the most popular games on the market, courtesy of GAME Blackburn. Children are allocated time slots on a first-come, first served basis so that as many young fans as possible enjoy a fair chance to make use of the exciting facilities, and there are comfy seats for gamers and parents alike. The room is fully supervised and stewarded, and offers low level tables so that our youngest fans can enjoy colouring in while their older siblings enjoy the gaming action.
Thanks to McDonald’s, children can enjoy face painting to get into the matchday spirit. Completely free of charge, options include blue and white halves, club crests and much more to show that you’re a passionate Rovers fan!
McDonald’s Free Fruit Bags and Nutrition Information
Encouraging healthy eating, McDonald’s give out a minimum of 100 free fruit bags at every game on a first-come, first-served basis from their information point next to the turnstiles. They also hand out colouring in posters for younger children to enjoy, as well as handy nutritional advice and details about their support of grassroots football, to help get your child involved in the game.
How tall are you compared to your favourite Rovers player? Where in the world do all of our supporters come from? Can you colour in Rover The Dog to bring him to life? On every wall around the concourse, there are photo opportunities and puzzles to interact with, giving you the chance to grab a great selfie or keep the youngest members of your party entertained, with virtually all the features set at a height so that they can be enjoyed by fans of all sizes.
The Blackburn Rovers Community Trust Family Stand is located right next to the home dug out, so it’s the perfect location to grab an autograph as the players make their way to and from the dressing rooms for their warm-ups or warm-downs. Keep an eye out for non-playing members of the squad who can also be found at the front of the stand at selected games for meet and greet opportunities.
Rover The Dog is one of the most popular faces at Ewood Park, and certainly the cuddliest! He makes sure he visits the Family Stand at every home fixture, spending as much time as he can making friends with our youngest fans. You never know where he may pop up next, so keep your eye out for the giant friendly dog with the full Blackburn Rovers kit!
Have you ever wondered who those children are that get to carry flags onto the pitch before the game? If you sit in the Family Stand, it could be you! If the experience hasn’t been booked in advance by a local school or voluntary group, we’ll be choosing four fans at random from this stand at most home fixtures, and they’ll be given the honour of leading out the team with our large Blackburn Rovers Community Trust flag. The earlier you get into your seat, the better the chance you have of being picked out of the crowd to enjoy this amazing experience!
Child Priority Lane
Competing with adults for a place in the concourse catering queue can seem a daunting experience for some of our smallest followers, so we’ve set up a child priority lane at the outlet closest to the Blackburn End goal. Clearly marked as a child’s lane, it also features a bright yellow step, so that they can climb closer to the counter and get a better view of what’s on offer while communicating more easily with the friendly staff serving them.
There’s a special menu in the Family Stand that you won’t find anywhere else in the stadium. Keep your eye out for our regular specials in this area, designed with younger tastes in mind. Healthier and more child-friendly portion sizes can be found in this area via guest items such as pasta boxes or kids’ packs which feature a selection of smaller items at a special price.
In order to make life easier for parents of small boys, we’ve lowered one of the urinal troughs in the gent’s toilets, so that it’s at a more convenient height for fans who aren’t as tall as the grown-ups around them.
There’s no limit on how old a fan has to be in order to experience a match at Ewood Park – as long as you can carry them, you can bring them in! Babes in arms can be brought into the stadium with a responsible parent or guardian, and baby changing facilities are available (and clearly marked) in the disabled toilet area closest to the Blackburn End goal.
Wondering why the concourse feels a little bit different to other parts of the stadium? A lot of that will be down to the special colour-changing lighting in this area, offering an extra colourful glow to make it a brighter, lighter and more uplifting area to enjoy when the game isn’t in progress.
