Rovers strengthened their central defensive options with the signing of Tommie Hoban on a season-long loan from Watford.

A youth player with Arsenal, Hoban joined Watford in his teens, making his senior debut at Preston North End in May 2011.

Following a loan spell with Wealdstone, Hoban’s breakthrough year with the Hornets came in 2012-13, when he made 19 appearances under Gianfranco Zola.

An ankle injury hampered his progress the following season, but Hoban went from strength to strength in 2014-15, making 30 appearances in all competitions as Watford secured automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Hoban has honours on the international stage having represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level.
