A striker full of power and exceptional aerial ability, Gestede joined Rovers permanently in January 2014 following a successful loan spell.

The Parisian-born forward signed a three-and-a-half year deal, moving from Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee.

After coming through the youth ranks at FC Metz, Gestede spent a year on loan gaining experience with AS Cannes, scoring four goals in 22 appearances, before returning to Metz in 2010.

The summer of 2011 saw the striker make the move across the English Channel to join Cardiff City, more than playing his part in the Bluebird's 2012-13 promotion campaign, scoring on five occasions as they lifted the Championship trophy.

Gestede found first team chances limited with Cardiff at the start of 2013-14 but after joining Rovers on loan in November he has been a force to be reckoned with.

The second half of the campaign couldn't have gone better for the forward as he opened his goalscoring account on New Years Day in a 2-1 win over Leeds United and went from strength to strength. He ended the season with 13 goals, 11 of which were headers, including a hat-trick of them against Birmingham City towards the end of April.

Popular with both fans and team-mates alike, Gestede has formed an impressive partnership with fellow striker Jordan Rhodes.

A regular at youth levels for France up to Under-19s, Gestede has since opted to play for the country of his parents, Benin. He has two goals from three appearances for the West African nation.
