A firm favourite with the fans due to his consistent displays in goal.

Former manager Paul Ince wasted little time following the departure of Brad Friedel in securing the services of Paul Robinson from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £3.5m.

After coming through the Academy ranks at Leeds United, Robinson quickly established himself as the number one choice at the Yorkshire club, earning recognition for club and country. After almost seven seasons at Leeds, Robinson moved to Tottenham Hotspur for £1.5m.

The former England international, who has earned almost fifty caps for his country, joined Rovers in July 2008 and consistant performances in goal saw him named Supporters' Player of the Year for the 2010-11 season.

Last season saw his campaign disrupted by a back injury, which required surgery in March 2013. However after suffering serious respiratory complications following the operation Robinson developed a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung).

The former England man was allowed to return to training in October 2013, before making a very welcome to action in early January 2014.
