Rovers added another highly-rated youngster with the signing of Jordan Slew from Sheffield United on transfer deadline day August 2011.

The forward crossed the Pennines for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year-deal.

A pacy and powerful striker, Slew was part of the Sheffield United Academy squad that reached last season's FA Youth Cup final, scoring in the two-legged final against Manchester United.

Impressive displays at youth level saw the young striker move up to the first team squad, making his senior debut in October, he'd end the 2010-11 campaign with two goals from his eight appearances. His debut goal coming against Preston North End in April.

After signing for Rovers, Slew joined League One side Stevenage Borough on loan until the end of the season but they narrowly missed out on promotion.

The beginning of the 2012-13 campaign saw the young forward make another loan move, to Oldham Athletic in a six-month deal but this was cut short due to a back injury.
