A product of the famed Sporting Lisbon Academy, Dio first enjoyed senior football with Real Massama in 2009 when he joined them on loan. Similar spells with Penafiel and Feirense followed to add to his experience.
Diogo has also played on the international stage having featured regularly for Portugal at all levels through to the under 21s.
Signed on transfer deadline day in August 2012, the midfielder put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal with Rovers.
With first team chances limited, Diogo returned to Portugal, joining Benfica on loan in January for the second half of the season.
