After a successful trial with the club, Jake completed a move from Derby County towards the end of the 2008/09 season.
Starting out with the Academy, the tall goalkeeper soon progressed through to the Reserve team.
At the beginning of the 2010-11 season Kean made an initial month-long loan move to League One side Hartlepool United but due ti impressive displays it was subsequently extended for the remainder of the season.
2011-12 saw Kean enjoy a loan spell with Rochdale, which prompted him to sign a new contract with Rovers until the summer of 2014.
The final game of that season would be one to remember for the 21-year-old as he impressed on his Premier League debut at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.
