Signed from Fulham for a fee of £1.5m, the Nigeria international put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal, which will keep him at Ewood Park until June 2016.
Dickson started his career at Manchester City, before joining Preston North End in 2002, where he played just short of 150 games.
He joined Norwich City in January 2006, after an initial loan spell, before moving to the Premier League with Sunderland in June 2007.
After just one season at the Stadium of Light, he made the move down to Fulham, where he made 127 appearances, including a starting role in the 2010 Europa League final.
A strong midfielder who is good in the air and on the ground, Dickson has once more linked up with fellow midfielder Danny Murphy.
