David is a confident, enthusiastic goalkeeper who has progressed quickly since joining from from Barcelona-based club UE Cornella in the summer of 2012.

An impressive first season in Lancashire saw the 'keeper feature in all but four games for the Academy, ending the campaign on a high by making his debut for the Under-21s.

The start of his second year at Rovers saw David join up with the first team on their pre-season trip to Portugal before becoming the regular stopper for the development squad, making 29 appearances in total for both Under-21s and Under-18s.

After a strong start to the 2014-15 season, September saw the keeper gain experience with a month-long loan deal with Conference side Southport. The Spaniard immediately impressed at Haig Avenue with his loan spell extended to the first week of January 2015

Raya's final game for the Sandgrounders was a memorable one as he pulled off a string of fine saves as Southport performed superbly in a 1-0 FA Cup third round away loss to Championship side Derby County.

The beginning of April then saw Raya make his first senior start in a Rovers shirt. Marking it with a clean sheet as Rovers defeated Leeds United 3-0 at Elland Road.
