Rovers signed the experienced midfielder following a successful trial in August 2015.
Shropshire-born, Guthrie started his career at Liverpool, where he made seven senior appearances, and spent time on loan away from Anfield with Southampton and Bolton.
July 2008 saw him move to Newcastle where he would go on to play over 100 games for the Magpies, scoring nine goals - including one in a dramatic League Cup tie against Rovers at Ewood Park in October 2011.
The former England youth international joined newly-promoted Premier League side Reading in June 2012 on a three-year deal, going on to make 69 appearances for the Royals, scoring five goals.
Having ended the 2014-15 season on loan at Fulham, Guthrie linked up with Rovers, and after impressing in pre-season, secured a permanent deal as he put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal at Ewood Park.
