The highly-rated attacker arrived from Leicester City in August 2013, joining the club on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Salford-born, Marshall started out at Manchester United as a schoolboy before moving to Crewe Alexandra.
At 17 he signed for Stoke City on professional terms, before enjoying several loan spells over a two-and-a-half-year period at Northampton Town, Cheltenham Town, Carlisle United and Sheffield Wednesday, gaining first team experience.
Impressive displays whilst on loan with Sheffield Wednesday prompted Leicester City to make a move for Marshall in January 2012. Strong displays for the Foxes also earned international recognition for England's Under-21s before making the move to Ewood Park.
Marshall's first season with Rovers was disrupted by a serious ankle injury suffered in January 2014, but since returning he has proved to be an important and versatile member of the squad.
Despite being known as an attacking footballer who can play anywhere across the front line, Marshall has also shown his worth with impressive performances at right back.
