Rovers fought off some stiff competition to secure the signature of former skipper Nicky Twohig, who is back at the club for a fourth spell.
After first moving away to Manchester City, she rejoined Rovers in October 2007 and went on to captain the club.
She has gained Super League experience with Liverpool over the past two seasons, before returning to Rovers this summer.
The 25-year-old is a brave and commanding central defender, who is a powerful presence in both boxes.
