After a trial with the club Rovers signed the striker from Macclesfield Town on a two-and-a-half year deal in January 2000.

After establishing himself with the Reserve squad Nick quickly earned himself a loan spell with Blackpool in March 2009. The following season he spent the first half on loan with Oldham Athletic.

Returned to Rovers in January 2010, going on to make ten appearances for the Reserves, scoring three goals.

The 2010-11 season has seen him move to Scottish Premier League side Motherwell on loan until January 2011.
