A product of the Rovers Academy having been with the club since the age of 12, Lowe as progressed through from the Academy to the Reserves and onto the fringes of the first team.

Impressive displays in the centre of midfield for the Reserves saw him sign his first professional contract, a two-year-deal in September 2009.

A strong end to the season saw him on stand by for England under 19 honours, and that hard work was rewarded when he was included in Noel Blake's squad for the UEFA Under 19 Championship finals held in France in July 2010, but an injury in training prevented him from taking part.
