Reserve team boss Gary Bowyer was thoroughly delighted with his side's performance after beating Liverpool 4-2 on Tuesday afternoon.
Rovers Reserves have been somewhat of the draw specialists in the league this season, but they finally got their first win of the campaign with a superb display against a highly rated Reds side.
In-form Hugo Fernandez grabbed a brace and Josh Morris and Jordan Slew added to the goal count to complete a satisfactory afternoon.
"It was thoroughly deserved," said Bowyer. "I felt we played the better football out of the two teams.
"I thought we scored two fantastic well-worked goals, the 1st goal and the 4th goal, and I thought our organisation and tactically we were spot on.
"The lads deserved everything as they really gave it a full hit against a Liverpool team that has cost a lot of money.
"Liverpool have got some good players, some are highly thought of, but our lads stuck at it and dealt with their threats really well. They really went about it professionally, they mixed the game up and did really well.
"So I'm delighted for them, it is the first win of the season and it has been a long time coming, but there is a good group in there, they are learning and they are getting better and I thought they were excellent."
The challenge now for the young Rovers is to emulate the progress other players have made and make the step up to the first team, something the club has done very well with in recent years.
"We said this last year when we won the league," added Bowyer. "It is about getting players up to the first team.
"You look at Lowey and Grant and people that have progressed from the Reserves, and that is the challenge for this group now.
"Adam has had a taste of it and we want a few more, that is what it is all about."
