Nick Blackman increased his pre-season goal tally by two further goals on Tuesday night as his brace saw Rovers defeat Barrow 2-0 at Holker Street.

The 20-year-old forward took his pre-season scoring to seven after claiming both goals in another tough workout.

The first half was nip and tuck, no quarter given as both sides working hard, but just as the previous match against Rhyl, Rovers took command after the break.

Just two minutes after the restart Rovers were in front. A neat passing move resulted in Nick Blackman receiving the ball out on the right, his route to goal appeared blocked, but he showed neat close control to trick his way past two defenders before firing past the Barrow 'keeper.

Whilst there was no doubt that the first goal was Blackman's, the second one was a little less clear.

Some twenty minutes after the opener Alan Judge sent over a cross from the right that found Zac Aley on the edge of the area, the Liverpudlian's shot appeared covered by the goalkeeper until a timely deflection from Blackman saw the ball go into the back of the net past the wrong-footed 'keeper.

ROVERS: Fielding (sub Kean 46 mins), Ramm, Pearson, Gunning, Anderson (sub Khizanishvili 46 mins), Doran, Judge, Marrow, Haygnner (sub Potts 70 mins), Aley (sub Cotton 74 mins), Blackman.
