Rhyl downed by Blackman brace
Rovers Reserves continued their unbeaten pre-season with a 2-0 victory over Rhyl on Saturday afternoon.
In a tough encounter in which Rhyl put up just the sort of sterling opposition you hope from a pre-season friendly, it was half-time substitute Nick Blackman who bagged both goals to earn Iain Brunskill's side the victory.
His first goal came just past the hour mark when the ball broke kindly for him in the area and he showed good awareness to turn and shoot past the goalkeeper.
The Cymru Alliance side thought they had levelled deep into injury time when following up after the crossbar had been struck, but it was ruled out for offside.
Rovers took full advantage when from the resulting free-kick they raced away for Nick Blackman to add a second.
Aaron Doran got almost an hour under his belt on his return from injury, whilst Academy under 16 midfielder Robbie Cotton featured for the last period of the match.
ROVERS: Fielding, Pearson, Khizanishvili, Gunning, Anderson (sub Blackman 46 mins), Doran (sub Ramm 56 mins), Potts (sub Haygnner 63 mins), Marrow, Aley, Judge, Branco (sub Cotton 78 mins).
Sub not used: Kean.
