Accrington Stanley 0 Rovers Reserves 3
Five wins out of five for Rovers' Reserves as a Gallagher treble gives them a comfortable 3-0 win over Accrington.
The Rovers striker netted two in the first half and added a third to see the Reserves victorious once again.
In truth Iain Brunskill's side should have scored further goals, David Hoilett struck a post, whilst Phil Jones and Alex Marrow both went close.
Accrington, who had only one change from the side that drew 2-2 with Burnley earlier in the week, rarely threatened, Paul Mullin seeing Stanley's best chance well saved, whilst substitute Jake Kean made a fine save late on to deny the Accrington striker.
Rovers made two changes from the side that defeated Leigh Genesis on Tuesday. Frank Fielding starting in goal, whilst Phil Jones came in at right back with Alex Marrow moving into the centre of midfield and Paul Gallagher switching to a more familiar striking position.
And the Scottish international wasted little time in making his mark up front. On ten minutes an Aaron Doran run was brought to a halt 25 yards out. Paul Gallagher caught the home site unawares with a quickly-taken free-kick that saw Alan Martin in the Accrington goal flat-footed as the ball nestled in the corner of the goal.
Stanley looked to hit back but, Michael Symes headed over whilst Luke Joyce hit a shot from distance well over.
On 27 minutes Paul Gallagher looked to score from another free-kick position, but this time Martin was alert to dive full length to tip the ball around the post.
But at the other end the home side very nearly leveled when Symes lifted the ball over the advancing Frank Fielding, but as the ball bounced towards the empty net, Zurab Khizanishvili got back in time to clear the danger.
But three minutes before the break Rovers doubled their lead. Stanley defender Phil Edwards was tackled in possession by Gallagher, taking the ball through on goal he could have squared for Hoilett but instead chose to chip Martin in the Stanley goal for his second goal of the game.
Rovers came out with the same eleven that started the match and they were just the width of a post from adding a third when David Hoilett jinked his way past two defenders on the edge of the box before striking low, but his shot came off the foot of the post.
But the side in blue and white didn't have long to wait for their third goal as on 52 minutes a third duly arrived and once again it was courtesy of Gallagher.
It was Alan Judge who collected a pass from Khizanishvili before threading the ball through to Gallagher, he sprinted past his marker before drilling the ball low into the left-hand corner of the goal. It was Gallagher's fifth pre-season goal.
He then went searching for a fourth five minutes later, but his well-struck shot flashed across goal.
Accrington then had their best spell of the game with two chances in quick succession, Fielding firstly saving comfortably from Symes, then following a mis-placed backpass from Khizanishvili, Paul Mullins was through but Fielding again did enough to divert the shot wide.
Right back Phil Jones went on a forward run that almost resulted in a goal, the 17-year-old shooting well from the edge of the box but Martin was equal to his efforts.
The inevitable changes came and went but Rovers continued to dominate, Alex Marrow played a one-two with David Hoilett to shoot from the edge of the area, but again Martin denied.
Jimmy Ryan struck a shot over the bar late on for Accrington, but there was to be no late drama at the Crown Ground.
