Biography:
Blackburn Rovers beat off a host of other clubs from around Europe to secure the services of this highly rated South American star.
Roque started his footballing education with his local Paraguayan side Olimpia de Asuncion where he spent nine years on their books before securing a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in 1999. He spent seven injury-plagued seasons with the German side until he moved to Ewood Park in July 2007 on a four-year deal for £3.3m fee.
In his first season with the Ewood Park club Roque was an instant hit, scoring within five minutes of his league debut against Middlesbrough. The Paraguay international continued that fine form ending the campaign Rovers' top-scorer with 23 goals in all competitions.
Because of his sensational first season, Rovers offered the striker a new four-year deal in August 2008, which the player duly signed.
