GARNER STRIKES AGAIN

Garner has scored three goals in his last four games

ROVERS' striker Joe Garner scored the only goal of the game to help his loan club Carlisle United defeat Cheltenham Town 1-0 on Saturday.

The 18 year-old striker, on loan with the Cumbrian side until the end of the season, hit a superb first-half effort from 25 yards to secure all three points for Neil McDonald's side.

It was the England under 19 striker's third goal in his last four games as he continues to impress for the League One side.

Also in League One it wasn't the best of days for one of Rovers' other on-loan youngsters. Andy Taylor's Huddersfield Town, despite two penalty saves, lost 2-1 at home to Crewe Alexandra.

In League Two Scottish under 19 midfielder Bryan Hodge - who joined Mansfield Town on a month long loan on Thursday - made his first senior start as the Stags won an entertaining encounter against Wycombe Wanderers 3-2 at Field Mill.

Whilst in Belgium, full-back Tony Kane was once again impressive for Cercle Brugge as they defeated Lierse 2-0.
