At our recent home game against Bolton the Club was proud to introduce the Bethany Family choir as part of our Kick It Out activities. The 30 children who attended are from Tanzania, one of the world's very poorest countries even compared to its African neighbours, and were once either orphaned, abandoned or abused. Many have suffered traumatic experiences and many would not be here today had Bethany not been there for them.
As of August 2006 Bethany is a family to over 100 children ranging in age from 18 months to 18 years. The Family's vision is to equip these children with an education and the essential life skills that will enable them to make a positive difference and lasting impact on the fabric of Tanzanian society.
The youngsters arrived in East Lancashire at the end of September and have been performing songs and celebration dances to great acclaim through the North West. We were therefore extremely pleased that they were able to take time out of their busy schedule to join us at Ewood Park to watch the game and to give a tremendous performance in Swahili on the pitch at half time.
