HUGHES: WE DIDN'T PERFORM

We let our standards drop today - Hughes

MARK Hughes was far from impressed with the performance, but happy that his side progressed through to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Rovers were pushed all the way by a spirited Cardiff City who belied their position in the Coca Cola Championship.

"It was a poor game from our point of view," said Hughes after the game. "We never really played at any stage in the game.

"We possibly got stuck into the kind of game that Cardiff wanted to play, but fair play to them, they were energetic, they got up to the ball which at times we didn't do, we made it a hard night.

"We kept getting forced back on the long balls, we needed to be more brave and keep a high line and then drop at the last moment, we didn't our line right and that made the game too open and fair play to Cardiff they play that game week-in week-out  and in the end we got sucked into playing a similar type of game but we aren't very good at it.

"We are thankful that we got the result and are in the hat but we can do better than that.

""We let our standards drop today, but we'll kick on, we didn't get beat so thats something to be pleased about," added the Rovers boss.
