ROVERS manager Mark Hughes has spoken of his delight at finally clinching the signature of Robbie Savage.

The Wales captain moves to Ewood Park on a three and a half year deal, and fellow Welshman Hughes was pleased to being the midfielder to the club.

"It has been a long time coming but we are finally there, Robbie has signed and we are all delighted, " said Hughes.

"He's a player that i've admired for many years, obviously I've worked with him for a long time, I know exactly what type of player he is and what he'll bring to the club, not only on the field but off the field as well. Those qualities will be very important to us in the future

"He's got a lot to live up, but he's more than capable of doing so, he's top quality, a good personality and he'll be a great success here.

"He was worth waiting for, Robbie is going to be a very good player for Blackburn Rovers for years to come," added the manager.
