We'll strengthen if we can - Hughes

MARK Hughes won't be drawn on his specific targets in advance of the opening of the January transfer window.

"We're actively working and looking to add to the squad if we can. We hope that some money will be made available in January so that we can strengthen.

"I am not prepared to talk about individual targets but we know what we are looking to do and if the right player at the right money is available then we will try to make it happen.

Asked about the speculation surrounding Birmingham City midfielder Robbie Savage, he said: "I don't discuss players who are contracted to another club."

Other names are in the frame include recent triallists Abel Xavier and New Zealand skipper Ryan Nelsen.

"Abel did okay but nothing is likely to happen in the immediate future. As for Ryan, we are currently talking to his advisors.

"It's a hectic time of year. The phone is constantly ringing with agents and managers ringing up - it's all part and parcel of the job."
