Tugay looks set to be sidelined

ROVERS this afternoon confirmed that Tugay could be out of action for several weeks.

The festive period will be less than merry for the Turkish midfielder as a training accident has left him on crutches.

A club spokesman explained: "Tugay was injured in training yesterday and a scan has revealed damage to a medial knee ligament. He is expected to be sidelined for about a month."

The injury is an untimely blow to manager Mark Hughes, busy preparing the squad for the demanding programme in which Rovers face six Barclays Premiership matches in just over three weeks.

David Thompson, who has battled back to fitness after breaking a bone in his footand Garry Flitcroft will be in contention to replace the Turkish maestro.
