WALES RETURN FOR HUGHES

Posted on: Sun 05 Dec 2004

Rovers have been drawn away to Championship side Cardiff City in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

The draw means a trip to the Welsh capital for former national boss Mark Hughes, and will also bring back fond memories for the fans of their last trip to Cardiff when the Millennium Stadium was the venue in Rovers' Worthington Cup Final victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Rovers last played at Ninian Park back in April 1985 in the old second divison when they came away with a 2-1 victory. The two sides have met twice in the FA Cup, with honors even, at win a-piece, although a replay was required for Rovers to progress to the 6th round in 1958 after a goalless draw at Cardiff.
