AMO UP FOR OP

Amoruso requires a heel operation

LORENZO Amoruso has been struck by another injury blow.

After missing several months of last season with a knee problem, the powerful Italian defender has been blighted this term with a heel injury.

He has only been able to play recent games after undergoing pain-killing injections and is now set to undergo minor surgery today.

"The upshot is, Lorenzo could be out for between two to three months," explained Rovers' chief executive John Williams this morning.

It's a disappointing scenario for Mark Hughes who is working to establish a settled side. The good news is Craig Short and Andy Todd, both very experienced top-level defenders, are returning from injury and are back in the frame.
