ROVERS have reacted to media speculation linking their influential skipper Barry Ferguson with a move back to Glasgow Rangers.

Barry, who turned in one of his finest performances for Rovers against Aston Villa at the weekend, is currently north of the border with the Scottish national squad preparing fro Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Norway.

Rumours have been circulating about Barry and his former club, but Rovers have moved swiftly to refute them.

Chief executive John Williams said this afternoon: "It is news to us, we have had no approach from Rangers regarding Barry. Nor would we welcome one."
