Hughes: It is the start of an adventure

MARK HUGHES was obviously a delighted man, after Rovers got their first win of the season in his first game in charge.

Matt Jansen came off the bench to score the winner giving the new Rovers boss his first three point haul.

"Delighted, we had to dig deep, our energy levels dropped a little bit towards the end of the first half, but in the second half we came out strong," said Hughes after the game.

"Great for Matty, he's had a difficult time, I think the fact that he came on lifted the crowd, lifted Matty and lifted the team and I'm delighted for him.

"Physically he's fine, he just needs a bit of confidence and that will do him the world of good.

"We needed to get some more energy on the field, the lads who came on give us the desired effect, obviously the goal helped us and gave us renewed vigour, we stuck at it and finished strongly and I was pleased with that.

"I've had a great day, we've won a game, we're off and running, and the other results appear to have gone reasonably well for us.

"It is the start of an adventure and I'm looking forward to it," added the new Rovers boss.
