Ewood Park to play host to an England international |
IT'S time to get the flags out again, as England are coming to Ewood Park.
The dust might have settled on Euro 2004, yet Rovers are once again honoured to have been selected to host the national side.
On Friday October 8, Peter Taylor's England Under 21 side will play neighbours Wales in a crucial a European Under 21 Championship qualifier. And when the 'Three Lions' face the 'Red Dragons,' at whatever level or sport, it's always a thrilling encounter.
Rovers secretary Tom Finn said: "It's a privilege and we are delighted to be asked to stage this prestigious international fixture. It is another great opportunity for fans in Blackburn and the North West to support the national Under 21 side.
"We consistently generate a fantastic atmosphere at Ewood. I am sure our fans will respond to this chance and make it a great footballing occasion."
Three years ago, in October 2001, Ewood Park played host to the England Under 21 side in their final European qualifier against Greece Under 21s. On that occasion, a sell-out crowd of 29,000 saw Rovers' own David Dunn lead England's young lions to a famous 2-1 victory.

Blackburn Rovers soccer schools and activity weeks are being staged throughout the area with a variety of course for boys and girls aged 5yrs to 16yrs. course vary from one day sessions to full weeks and prices range from £8 - £40 dependant one course and duration.
