Matteo is Rovers' third summer signing

GRAEME Souness today welcomed his third summer capture Dominic Matteo as Rovers' senior squad got down to the serious business of pre-season training.

Matteo put pen to paper on a three-year deal - arriving on a free transfer from Leeds United - before driving from Ewood Park to meet his new colleagues at Brockhall.

The manager said: "Dominic is a proven player with an impressive track record and I am delighted to have him on board.

"He is versatile, able to play a couple of roles both in defence and midfield, and that is an important feature.

"I am very pleased he has chosen to join us and, along with Paul Dickov and Javier De Pedro, feel sure we have recruited someone who will play a major part for us in the forthcoming season."
