Babbel has returned to Liverpool

German defender Markus Babbel and Norwegian midfielder Martin Andresen will not be staying with Rovers.

Both players have returned to their clubs after loan spells at Ewood Park.

Graeme Souness said: "Markus and Martin have both done their bit for us in what's been a very difficult season and I would like to go on record thanking them for that and wish them all the very best for the future.

"Markus came in at the start of the season and played in some very big games while Martin arrived when the scramble to gather points was really hotting up.

Markus will return to Anfield to re-join his Liverpool team-mates and Martin goes home to Norway and FC Stabaek.
