ROVERS have confirmed that interest continues in the attempt to sign Brian McBride on loan.

The United States international striker, who is no stranger to North West England following previous spells with Preston North End and Everton, is contracted to the MSL in America and complicated negotiations are continuing.

Chief executive John Williams said: "We have been on with this for over a month now, but I can report that some progress has been made."

The 31 year-old, currently on the books of US side Columbus Crew, has 67 caps and 20 international goals to his name.
