ENCKELMAN WELCOME

Souness is delighted to have Enckelman on board

GRAEME Souness was delighted to welcome goalkeeper Peter Enckelman to Brockhall yesterday.

He said: "Given our injury situation, I am delighted to have him here. There perhaps could be an opening for another goalkeeper here on a full-time basis.

"For although Peter is here on loan to begin with, we will have a very good look at him and take it from there."

The Finnish international has responded to Rovers mounting injury crisis and joined on a month's loan from Aston Villa. With Alan Kelly and David Yelldell sidelined, with knee and shoulder injuries respectively, Brad Friedel was Rovers' only fit senior stopper.

The Premier League granted special dispensation for the move and Peter goes straight into the squad to face Everton at Ewood Park on Monday night.
