PUT THE SHIRT ON TODD

Posted on: Wed 17 Nov 2004

Todd was impressive on Wednesday night

ANDY Todd has received a timely boost ahead of the visit of his former club Charlton Athletic on Monday night.

Graeme Souness has already indicated that Todd will be in the starting line-up.

He said: "Andy Todd took his chance well the other night and he will start. And if we go on a run, then he will stay in, too. I have always been of the opinion that I don't take the shirt away from players, they lose it!"

The experienced defender was recalled from a loan spell at neighbours Burnley as Rovers faced a defensive crisis with illness, injury and suspension disrupting selection options.

He went straight into midweek action in the UEFA Cup, putting in an impressive resolute performance against Turkish side Gençlerbirligi SK.
