College visits Academy

Posted on: Tue 24 Jan 2012

Sports students from Nelson and Colne College working with Blackburn Rovers Community Trust visited the Academy at Brockhall recently for a behind-the-scenes look at the facilities and to interview Academy Manager Phil Cannon.

The students, who are currently completing a unit of work on Sports Development, were interested to find out how the football club develops it's young players from talented teenagers to Premier League stars like Junior Hoilett.

Returning to the Trust's Education Centre at Ewood Park, students continued their investigation into the Academy system in greater depth following which they had the opportunity to take a tour of the stadium. Dan Halsall, a tutor at Nelson and Colne College, described the day as: "An excellent and worthwhile visit that gave the students great insight into life as an elite performer".
