David Dunn felt the display Rovers put in on Saturday against Everton was the best the side has played this season.
Rovers were in control for long periods of the match at Goodison, but in the end had to settle for a point. David Goodwillie's second half goal levelling after Everton's controversial opener.
"I would argue that that was the best we have played all season if I'm being honest," said Dunn. "It was a very good performance from everyone.
"I thought we all looked pretty comfortable, we were creating chances, we looked solid and I thought we were the best team for a lot of the game.
"We felt a little bit aggrieved with their goal because of the hand ball, but I felt we were in charge of the game, we were the only team that was going to go on and score.
"If we had got the first perhaps we would have gone on and won, but with them getting the first goal it gave them a bit of confidence."
Dunn impressed in his roaming role in the centre, going close on a number of occasions to get his second goal in successive games.
"Unfortunately I just couldn't get a goal, I hit the post, had one disallowed and another saved," added the midfielder.
"Sometimes that is how it goes. Maybe the best chance I had was from Junior's pull back but I just didn't catch it well.
"But you've got to be pleased with a point at Goodison, looking back at the game I think we were the best team and perhaps could have got a little bit more out of the game but it wasn't to be.
"So lets build on this, hopefully the fans can carry on where they've been for the last couple of games as well and really get behind us at home - which they have done - and we can go and really challenge Newcastle, they are having a tremendous season.
"We've beaten them once at Ewood already this season in the cup, so why not do it again?"
