Dunny struggling for Birmingham

Posted on: Thu 19 Aug 2010

David Dunn is struggling to be fit to his face his former club when Rovers visit Birmingham City in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday.

But the good news is that the midfield star's groin injury, picked up early in last weekend's opening fixture with Everton, is not considered serious.

"Saturday might come a little too early for Dunny," said manager Sam Allardyce.

"It is not a serious injury, but it has kept him away from training.

"He is making progress and might well be in contention for the Carling Cup tie with Norwich at Ewood Park next Tuesday night."

Dunn was Rovers' top scorer during the 2009-10 campaign with 10 league and cup goals to his name - two of them coming in a 2-1 home success over Birmingham in March.
