Rovers manager Sam Allardyce is tipping young goalkeeper Frank Fielding to have a bright future in the game.
The Blackburn-born keeper made his full debut for England's Under-21s against Uzbekistan on Tuesday night, just hours after receiving a surprise call up to Fabio Capello's senior squad for the game against Hungary.
Frankie is yet to appear for the Rovers first team in competitive action, but has made almost 100 league appearances whilst out on loan.
And Big Sam believes that another short-term spell away from Ewood Park would help to continue his development.
"I got a call from Stuart Pearce and he told me that Frank was playing for the Under-21s, which I was really pleased about," said Sam.
"And then he asked a slightly silly question, but one he had to ask of course, which was 'would it be ok if he went to be number three'. Well he didn't really need to ask me that one - of course it was!
"It's a great experience for him. This lad is a very, very good goalkeeper. We've sent him out to get huge experience in league football over the last few years. Of course he finds it difficult because of Paul Robinson to break through into the first team.
"But this lad should be playing first team football at a much higher level than he did at Rochdale last year, but unfortunately nobody seems to want to take the chance.
"And you're not really taking a chance with Frankie because he's a top goalkeeper and if you play in England's Under-21 and you're playing in league football at his age and getting the experience he's got, then he should make a very, very good living in the game.
"Whether that be at Blackburn remains to be seen. He's number three or four at the moment, rather than number one or two, which he might become.
"But in the meantime, hopefully that might spur some other club out there in the Championship or League One to come and take him on loan."
With Mark Bunn, Jason Brown and Jake Kean also on Rovers' books, Big Sam was keen to emphasise the strength in depth he has in the goalkeeping department.
"I've got four very good goalkeepers behind Paul Robinson," he added.
"Mark Bunn had a great season at Sheffield United last year and obviously Browny did a job for us, stepping in to the Carling Cup and helping us get to the semi-final.
"So we're in a very good position goalkeeper-wise and hopefully one or two of those can step out and get some valuable experience on loan."
