Good start is key - Morten

Posted on: Tue 10 Aug 2010

Morten Gamst Pedersen hopes Rovers can continue where they left off when the new season gets underway this weekend.

Sam Allardyce's side ended the 2009-10 campaign with just one defeat in their last nine league games to secure a top ten finish.

And Morten believes that a good start to the coming campaign will help to ease the pressure for Premier League points later in the season.

"The whole team did well in the end last year, so hopefully we can continue that form and start well this season," he said.

"We had a slow start last year and if we can kick on early, then maybe there won't be as much catch up in the end.

"Of course, everybody wants a good start and it gives you confidence. If you can get some points under your belt at the beginning then it can just roll on.

"It's not going to be easy. We've got some good teams that we're going to meet - we've got Everton, Birmingham, Arsenal.

"So it's not going to be easy, but always at the beginning of the season you get some funny results and hopefully the results will go with us."
