Sam's delight at Celtic win

Posted on: Sun 08 Aug 2010

Sam Allardyce was delighted with Rovers' unbeaten trip to Scotland, crowned by a fantastic 2-1 win over Celtic this afternoon, thanks to goals from David Dunn and Alan Judge.

The Ewood boss, finalising preparations for Saturday's Barclays Premier League opener with Everton, said:  "It's always nice to win and get the chance to play in such a great stadium.

"There was a fantastic atmosphere at Celtic and the pitch was top notch.

"There were no major injuries from either game, so all in all it was a great weekend. A win at Celtic after a draw at Hearts in a game we could well have won.

"A few of our young lads got the chance to appear alongside the more experienced players, so it was the ideal build-up to the new season."

The boss revealed that he had originally planned to give Nikola Kalinic his first full 90 minutes of the pre-season at Celtic, but the Croatian striker felt a slight twinge and was subbed 'purely as a precaution'.
