Rovers are relishing the opportunity of a further quality pre-season workout in Scotland as they take on Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday afternoon.
New boy Mame Biram Diouf marked his Rovers debut in style by scoring their goal in the 1-1 draw at Hearts on Saturday and manager Sam Allardyce is eager to build on the many encouraging aspects of that game as he makes the most of the chance to assess his full squad.
The boss himself left the game 20 minutes from time to pursue 'a bit of business', according to assistant Neil McDonald, who said: "It was a good workout for us and hopefully the Celtic game will provide us with just as good a test.
"We are spreading the squad across the two games and it is ideal preparation for the opening game against Everton next weekend.
"It was good to see Mame score on his debut for us. A striker can't ask for more than an early goal and he got that after coming on for us at half time."
Mame Biram Diouf and other players on international duty in the coming days will miss the Celtic match.
Paul Robinson looks likely to come in in goal, as Mark Bunn and Jason Brown shared the duties at Hearts. The likes of Michel Salgado, David Dunn, Brett Emerton and Vince Grella also sat out the first game of the weekend double-header north of the border.
The Celtic match kicks off at 3pm.
