Morten happy with settled squad

Posted on: Thu 05 Aug 2010

Midfield ace Morten Gamst Pedersen believes a quiet summer on the transfer front at Ewood Park could be a blessing in disguise ahead of the new campaign.

Rovers look set to start the new season with virtually the same squad that ended 2009-10 in 10th place.

And Morten believes that by having a settled summer, without any significant change to the playing personnel, could work in the team's favour this time around.

"We've got the same squad as we had last year," he said.

"We ended on a high last year and if we can start in the same place as we stopped, that will be brilliant for us - to get a good start, so that we don't have to play catch up in the end.

"I'm sure some new players will come in, but it's not as if we've got five or six new faces.

"We've been the same squad now all summer, everybody knows each other and if we do get a new player, then one will always settle quicker than five or six.

"We can't say that we haven't been all together, so hopefully that will be an advantage at the beginning of the season, that everybody knows each other.

"We just have to play with the players we've got. We can't change anything. The club have been looking for a new striker and if somebody new is coming, then hopefully they will strengthen the team."
