Sam looks for improved performance

Posted on: Wed 28 Jul 2010

Rovers are back in action at the Sydney Football Stadium this Wednesday evening when they take on Greek club AEK Athens in the 6pm (local time) kick-off.

A travel weary Rovers lost their opening match in the 2010 Sydney Festival of Football 2-1 to Rangers, whilst Wednesday night's opponents AEK defeated hosts Sydney FC 5-3, racking up an impressive 8 points in the process due to the extra point per goal rule in the tournament.

Sam Allardyce has a near fully fit squad to chose from with the likes of Ryan Nelsen, Martin Olsson, Keith Andrews and possibly Niko Kalinic and Christopher Samba returning to action.

Ahead of the match, Rovers boss Sam Allardyce said: "We've picked up no further injuries and we want to improve on Wednesday and try and get a few of our bigger players, Niko Kalinic, Chris Samba and Martin Olsson, fit.

"So hopefully those will be fit to be selected on Wednesday and we want a different team out and a different performance, a winning performance."

Tickets are available at the ground priced from AU$29. A selection of Rovers merchandise is also available to purchase from the superstore at the Sydney Football Stadium.
