Dream donation for Nightsafe
Homeless young people in the borough are set to benefit from a warm-hearted gesture from Blackburn Rovers.
The club's Academy is donating all of the bedding used by Rovers' rising stars throughout the 2009-10 season to local charity Nightsafe, which provides sheltered accommodation for 16 to 24-year-olds within Blackburn and Darwen.
Operations manager Lynda Sharratt, who collected the duvets and towels from Rovers' Brockhall training base, said: "Due to the number of young people who use our night shelter, the bedding needs to be washed and replaced on a regular basis, so this donation will save us a lot of money.
"We have received a lot of support from Blackburn Rovers in the past and it is always greatly appreciated."
Rovers' Academy manager Phil Cannon said: "We are always eager to help out worthy causes in the local community and Nightsafe particularly appeals to us, as it reaches out to young people."
