Substitute Alan Judge was the unlikely hero as Rovers earned a deserved 2-1 victory over Celtic, ensuring an unbeaten Scottish weekend double-header.
David Dunn and Judge scored either side of a goal by Celtic's Marc-Antoine Fortune, as Rovers ended their pre-season programme in style.
Paul Robinson, fresh from retiring from England duty, captained a Rovers side featuring 10 changes from the 1-1 draw with Hearts yesterday.
Only Nick Blackman, replaced by new boy Mame Biram Diouf at half-time at Tynecastle, remained as Dunn, Michel Salgado, Pascal Chimbonda, Phil Jones, Brett Emerton and Nikola Kalinic all came in for their first action of the weekend.
Josh Morris, Amine Linganzi and Gael Givet, who all came on as substitutes at Hearts, also started against the Scottish giants.
The first chance of the game came after six minutes when a pin-point long ball from Dunn found Emerton, but his header was parried by the Celtic stopper.
Five minutes later Rovers were ahead when Dunn fired a free-kick from 25 yards into the left-hand corner of the net after a foul on Kalinic.
However, just five minutes later Celtic were level when Fortune found space on the left and fired a low diagonal shot past Robinson.
Four minutes before half-time, Kalinic was put through with a pass from Blackman, but the Croation was flagged offside.
Shortly after the break, Dunn went close to adding his second, as his audatious chip from 25 yards flew narrowly over.
On 65 minutes, shortly after coming on as a sub for Morris, Judge regained Rovers' lead with a low drive from the edge of the box after a pass from Kalinic.
Salgado, Junior Hoilett and Emerton all had shots wide as Rovers looked to add to their tally.
Judge also put a teasing cross over to the right after good work to make space on the left, but it came to nothing.
On 75 minutes, Robinson had to be at his best to tip a stinging drive from Ben Hutchingson around the post.
Rovers: Robinson, Salgado, Chimbonda, Jones, Givet, Emerton (Doran), Linganzi, Dunn, Morris (Judge), Kalinic (Gunning), Blackman (Hoilett).
