Rovers announce Celtic friendly
Rovers are set for a mouth-watering Scottish double header as they finalise their preparations for the new Premier League season.
Twenty-four hours after they take on Hearts in Edinburgh, Sam Allardyce's side will head along the M8 to face Neil Lennon's Celtic on Sunday August 8th (kick-off 3pm).
The extra friendly will allow Big Sam to give his squad more valuable game time against top opposition as they prepare for the start of the new campaign at home to Everton the following weekend.
It will be Rovers' first trip to Celtic Park since October 2002, when they lost 1-0 in the UEFA Cup second round first leg in front of a crowd of 58,695 fans.
Celtic, then managed by Martin O'Neill, went on to win the second leg at Ewood Park 2-0, with ex-Rover Chris Sutton among the scorers, on their way to that season's UEFA Cup final.
Ticket details will be released shortly.
