Ireland defeat Paraguay

Posted on: Wed 26 May 2010

Keith Andrews was on the winning side for the Republic of Ireland as they defeated Paraguay 2-1 at the RDS Arena.

The Rovers midfielder played the full ninety minutes as goals from Kevin Doyle and Liam Lawrence saw Ireland race into a half-time two-goal lead.

Paraguay's Lucas Barrios pulled a goal back into the second half, but Ireland were rarely troubled and saw out the match to win comfortably.

Andrews and Ireland are next in action on Friday when they play South Africa bound Algeria.

The other international with Rovers involvement saw Cameroon and Zurab Khizanishvili's Georgia play out a goalless draw in Linz, Austria.
